Best Places to Travel Au Naturel
Travel is all about getting out of our comfort zone and broadening our horizons. We strip all of our belongings down to the bare necessities that a suitcase or two will allow for. Then there are those who decide to strip themselves down even more and bare all they have to offer. So where do you go when you want to feel truly free and natural? Compiled is a list of some top destinations around the world where you can allow yourself to lose your inhibitions and live au naturel if but for just a short time.
Why I Hate Machu Picchu
The backdrop of Machu Picchu has become something like a “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign where tourists continue to take the monotonous iconic selfie in front of the long lost city which is now heavily dotted with the brightly colored clothing of tourists much like the lights on a Christmas tree. The whole Machu Picchu experience has sadly become no more authentic then shaking hands with Elvis in Sin City.
Mungo: A Journey into Australia’s Past
A place truly out of this world, so much so that it looks like the surface of the moon, Lake Mungo has acted like a time capsule allowing us to take a peek into Australia’s historic past. Staring out at the Walls of China section of Mungo National Park, its hard not to feel a sense of the nearly 2,000 generations of its native peoples that have called it home. The Walls take on incredibly beautiful colors at sunset so a drive out to the lookout at that time is highly recommended.
Chitwan National Park: Asia’s Serengeti
Chitwan National Park in Nepal offers wildlife enthusiasts an incredible playground, making it one of the best places to experience Asia’s most iconic wildlife. It not only offers similar fauna to Africa, but also adds tigers and bears to the mix. The wildlife of Chitwan may be more elusive than on an African Safari, but it makes sightings a much more rewarding experience.
