Mungo: A Journey into Australia’s Past
A place truly out of this world, so much so that it looks like the surface of the moon, Lake Mungo has acted like a time capsule allowing us to take a peek into Australia’s historic past. Staring out at the Walls of China section of Mungo National Park, its hard not to feel a sense of the nearly 2,000 generations of its native peoples that have called it home. The Walls take on incredibly beautiful colors at sunset so a drive out to the lookout at that time is highly recommended.
Chitwan National Park: Asia’s Serengeti
Chitwan National Park in Nepal offers wildlife enthusiasts an incredible playground, making it one of the best places to experience Asia’s most iconic wildlife. It not only offers similar fauna to Africa, but also adds tigers and bears to the mix. The wildlife of Chitwan may be more elusive than on an African Safari, but it makes sightings a much more rewarding experience.
Denali Park Village
Deep in Alaska’s wild interior lies over six million acres of preserved wilderness otherwise known as Denali National Park. With glacial lakes, frozen tundra, expanses of unspoiled forest and massive mountain peaks (including the towering Mount McKinley, North America’s tallest peak), over 400,000 visitors flock here every year for the unique wildlife viewing and spectacular scenery on display.
Jamala Wildlife Lodge: A Room with a Zoo
If you’ve ever dreamt of an intimate experience with wild animals, Australia has the lodge for you. While there are a number of zoos that offer overnight sleepovers, Jamala Wildlife Lodge takes the concept to a completely different level.
The Other Panda
We all have come to know and love the large black and white Giant panda which is honored in such ways as it being a national symbol of China, the logo for the World Wildlife Fund for Nature, and the leading star in films like Kung Fu Panda. There is however another animal which shares the Panda name and despite its name being Lesser Panda, it deserves just as much recognition and protection as its more famous counterpart.
